Our approach is grounded in the Taoist philosophy of Wuwei, usually translated as not-doing. Although it may seem idealistic, in our understanding of Wuwei, as explained to us by our teacher, it is really one of the most practical philosophies.
In Tai Chi we obviously must "do" something, but if we do action with effort we are really identified with the sense of "doing". If we do action with relaxation, there is less the sense of "doing" and the "doer". As fanciful as this sounds, with the right understanding and practice, this can become a palpable experience attainable by all.
